When temperatures drop, tyre prices rise! For the 2010-2011 season, Rezulteo has checked this by analysing the price changes for four standard tyre sizes. A piece of advice: If you don’t want to pay a high price for your winter tyres, buy them now!

    Between 14th September and 11th December 2010:

    • The minimum price of high-performance tyres increased by 30%.
    • The minimum price of mid-level tyres increased by 66%.

    • The minimum price of mid-level tyres increased by 114%.

    Between 14th September and 11th December 2010:

    • The minimum price of high-performance tyres increased by 31%.
    • The minimum price of mid-level tyres increased by 120%.

    • Methodology

    • The period studied runs from 01/08/2010 to 31/03/2011. It corresponds to the period winter tyres are sold in Europe.
    • Each day we have noted the price of winter tyres posted on all available online and offline tyre retail sites.
    • We have separated the premium brands  from the medium brands 
    • The range of high-performance brands: Michelin, Bridgestone, Goodyear, Pirelli, Dunlop, Continental.
    • The range of mid-level brands: Yokohama, Hankook, Nokian, Vredestein.
    • The graphic highlights the minimum price changes for winter tyres from the premium and medium range.  
    • Three key dates have been highlighted:
      -   14.09.2010: Start of the buying season.
      -   11.12.2010: High demand period (snowfall in Europe).
      -   15.02.2011: End of the buying season.
    • Prices are indicated in Pounds sterling.
