Subsidiary of the American tyre manufacturer Goodyear, the Slovenian brand Sava completes its range of truck tyres (Sava’s Avant 4 steer tyre and Orjak 4 drive tyre) with the versatile Sava Cargo 4 trailer tyre designed for long and regional haul operations.
Far from the claims of excellence and energy efficiency of the market’s best tyre technologies, the Cargo 4 is positioned at an entry level price. Derived from its predecessor, the Cargo C3, and presented as meeting “European quality” standards, the Cargo 4 is by no means a cheap tyre and claims to offer improvements in key areas. Although it has kept the same tread design as its predecessor, its new rubber chemistry improves the tyre’s wet grip performance by 10 percent. This significant improvement see its EU tyre label grade change from C to B, without reducing its energy performance (graded C) or affecting external noise (70 dB and one wave only on the label).
The new tread compound also offers a higher resistance to damage, cuts and chipping/chunking while stones, which never fail to get trapped in grooves, are easily ejected allowing this tyre to venture fearlessly off-road, particularly in construction site areas.
