Nokian is a Finish tyre Brand specialized in winter tyres and nordic tyres. The company is based in Nokia, Finland.
Important dates :
1898: Foundation of the Suomen Gummitehdas Oy Company (rubber manufacturing company of Finland).
1932: The company began to manufacture their first car tyres.
1934: The company began to develop their first winter tyre.
1988: The Nokian Tyres plc. Company was established.
2003: split from the Nokia Group - Bridgestone Europe became the company’s majority shareholder.
2005: Second factory opened in Russia.
The Nokian tyre brand is mainly marketed in Scandinavian countries (43% of the sales) and Russia (34% of the sales).
The Nokian’s 2008 annual sales amounted to €1.08 billion. The company currently employs 3,800 people.
In addition to tyres for cars, vans, and 4x4s, Nokian manufactures tyres for trucks, agriculture and forestry.
