Avon Tyres is owned by the Cooper Tire & Rubber Company.


History highlights:

1890: After 5 years in the tyre industry, Avon Tyres moved their headquarters to Melksham, Wlitshire where they remain today.
Ever since 1904, Avon Tyres has been manufacturing high quality tyres that fit all classes of cars, motorbikes, vans, and trailers.

1911: In response to the growing popularity of motorcycles and sidecars, Avon Tyres began manufacturing motorcycle and sidecar tyres.

1957-63: The glory years : all the world’s solo champions won their races on Avon motorcycle tyres.

2003:  Supermoto took off as an international sport.  Avon Tyres supplied the marketplace with a range of Supermoto tyres for both amateurs and professionals.


In addition to car, van and 4x4 tyres, Avon Tyres manufactures motorcycle tyres.

Competition / sports sponsorship

Motor racing:

  • In 2009, Avon Tyres marked their fourth consecutive year as the official tyre supplier and sponsor of the Avon Tyres British GT Championship.
  • The organisers of the GP Masters Series have selected Avon Tyres to be the tyre supplier to the 6 races of the 2009 championship.
